The Caviar app does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. This page also describes what happens when you visit this website or write to support.

The Caviar app

Your documents stay on your Mac

Caviar makes no network connections. The documents you open, their analysis and the files you export stay on your Mac. Sensitive-data detection, including text recognition on scanned pages, runs entirely on your Mac.

No account, no tracking

Caviar uses no account, no usage analytics, no automatically sent crash reports, no advertising and no third-party services.

Settings

Your settings (detected categories, word lists, output folder…) are stored locally on your Mac, in the app's preferences. They are removed if you delete the app and its preferences.

What Apple may know

Caviar is distributed through the Mac App Store. Downloads are handled by Apple under its own privacy policy. I have no access to data about you through it, other than aggregated, anonymous statistics provided by Apple, and crash reports only if you chose to share them with developers in macOS settings.

This website

This website sets no cookies, uses no visitor analytics and loads no third-party resources (no fonts, videos or scripts). It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and technical connection data to serve the pages and protect the site against attacks, under its privacy policy.

Emails to support

If you write to [email protected], I receive your email address and the content of your message, solely to reply to you. Messages are kept for the duration of the exchange, then for at most two years to follow up on recurring issues. They are never shared or used for anything else. The mailbox is hosted by Apple (iCloud).

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you can ask to access, correct or delete your messages by writing to [email protected]. You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
